Hypnotherapy is a common practice of most NLP professionals and hypnotherapists in order to diagnose and modify a persons behaviour, attitude, stress levels and pain management. A technique called hypnotic anchoring is a widely used practice of most Neuro-linguisitic Programming practitioners to employ and change an individual from severe anxiety in to a positive emotional state.
Why use the anchoring technique?
This technique can generally transform an individuals fears, jealousy and anxiety to a positive state by means of applying external stimulus to a person. Hypnotic anchor is defined as an internal state of mind or a safe feeling that is associated in any life memory. Applying external stimulus through different channels of senses is used to trigger a person to regress into a state of their comfort zones and safe place. A great example is by using words that is mainly associated with a positive feeling such as the word pillow. Having to hear the word pillow can send a stimulus that activates a brain to instantly visualize the object. A person can also associate this thing to a happy memory that brings him into a state of comfort and safety. Having to anchor a happy memory can also be strengthened by an NLP practitioner to deeply immense their clients to become overly stimulated by other factor such as playing soft background music. The use of combinations and several senses can make the hypnotic anchor much stronger.
Creating another positive anchor can be achieved by recalling a happy memory. A memory in the past can be used where a person feels happy and safe. If a person wanted to feel the same feeling all over again, make him try to vividly imagine the same scenario and recall everything people, the place, the conversations said and heard and the certain feeling during that period. When the feeling is at its peak, apply simple gestures to anchor then gradually break the current state. For your anchor to become strong, try to recall another scenario and repeat the same technique using different means or association from a previous positive memory. This will create a good and positive feeling to any individual.
The use of anchor in hypnotherapy can be used to people who experiences severe exam anxiety and high stress levels. This negative feeling can be triggered due to lack of self esteem or pressure. To surpass these fears and stresses, condition yourself by the use of hypnotic anchoring. Give yourself a good feeling to evenly overcome all those negative fears and achieve a positive feeling instead.
